About the IMEI number

About the emergency phone

Question: What is an IMEI number?

Answer: International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) is a 15-digit number unique to every GSM and UMTS mobile phone.

This number is used by the service provider to stop a stolen phone from accessing the network. This renders the phone useless to the thief. It also prevents the thief from using your phone with another SIM card.

If you furthermore protect your SIM card with a PIN code (do this before the phone is stolen) that must be entered when the phone is turned on, the thief cannot use neither your phone nor your SIM card.

Do not mistake the IMEI number with the PIN code. Your network provider do not need your PIN code (4-digit), but the IMEI number (15-digit) is of vital importance to block your phone.

Make changes to the fields and press "Save". Feel free to try it out.

Question: How do I find the IMEI number?

Answer: The IMEI number is usually found printed inside the phone underneath the battery. But generally you do not have to look inside the phone, instead you may try one of the following methods:

Method 1: Use the same process as dialing a number to be called. Press the following keys on your phone one by one:   *#06#  and press go or call if you do not see a number.

Method 2: If you still got the phone manufacturer's packaging, look for a white sticker or label on the package. Near a bar code the IMEI would be printed.

Method 3: Power your phone off and remove the battery. Look inside the phone for a white sticker or label, you should see under the battery, and look for the IMEI. It would be 15, or 17 characters, if including other signs than digits. Only the first 15 digits are needed.

Question: How do I find the emergency phone number?

Answer: The emergency number is a special 24-hours number, you always can call to block your phone to protect your phone bill, if you lose your phone. This is an extremely important number, because you abrupt may need it at any time of the day, if your phone suddenly gets lost or stolen.

This is the phone number you should call immediately if you lose your mobile phone. Notice that the number is not the normal daytime business phone number of your phone service provider.

Usually it can be found in the papers you have got from your service provider, but not always.

If you cannot find it there, then call your mobile service provider and ask for it. They know this is a very important number and they should be able to give it to you right away.

When you have entered the number here, it will always be at your hand along with the as well important IMEI number, and it will be accessible to you at any time from all over the world.

In this demo, the number is not saved permanently.
